FAQs

Yes, a proper outdoor LED display is built to handle the weather, and IP65 is the rating that tells you how well. The “6” means the cabinet is fully dust-tight, so nothing gets in, and the “5” means it can take water jets from any direction without damage. For Singapore, that matters a great deal, because our sudden tropical downpours and constant humidity would quickly ruin a screen that wasn’t sealed properly. IP65 is the practical minimum for outdoor use here. For exposed coastal sites or spots that take the full force of heavy rain, you may want to step up to IP66. Every Auronova outdoor cabinet is IP65 rated as standard, so it’s ready for local conditions from day one.

Brightness is measured in nits, and outdoors you need a lot of it. As a rule of thumb, an outdoor screen should put out at least 5,000 nits to stay clearly readable in direct sunlight, and many premium displays reach 6,000 to 8,000 nits or more for sites that catch the full midday sun. Singapore sits right on the equator, so our daylight is intense and a dim screen simply washes out and wastes your advertising spend. The best displays also adjust automatically, dialling brightness up at noon and down at night to save power and avoid glare. Auronova specifies high-brightness cabinets matched to where your screen will actually sit, so it stays sharp at 2pm as well as 10pm.

Pixel pitch is the gap between LEDs, measured in millimetres, and it decides how close people can stand before the image looks grainy. The smaller the number, the finer the detail. For outdoor screens, the right pitch depends on viewing distance. As a general guide, P4 to P6 suits displays people view from closer up, such as shopfronts and entrance walls, while P8 to P10 is well suited to billboards and façades seen from across a road or further away. There’s no point paying for an ultra-fine pitch on a screen viewed from 50 metres, since the eye can’t tell the difference at that range. Auronova helps you pick the pitch that gives the clearest image for your audience without overspending.

There isn’t a single price, because the cost depends on the screen size, the pixel pitch, the brightness, the cabinet quality, and how complex the installation is. A small shopfront screen sits at one end of the scale, while a large building façade or roadside billboard, with its structural support and weatherproof housing, sits much higher. Finer pixel pitch and higher brightness also push the price up. Rather than guess, we prepare an itemised quotation after understanding your site, your viewing distance, and what you want the screen to do, so you can see exactly what you’re paying for before committing.

Outdoor screens take a beating from sun, rain, and dust, so a little regular care goes a long way. Maintenance usually involves cleaning the screen surface and clearing any dust from vents and filters, checking that all the weatherproof seals and connectors are still tight, inspecting the cooling and ventilation system so the cabinet doesn’t overheat, and calibrating brightness and colour so the display stays even. In Singapore’s humid climate, keeping moisture and dust out of the cabinet is especially important for a long life. Auronova offers scheduled maintenance plans for outdoor displays, so small issues get caught before they turn into expensive failures or visible faults on a public screen.

A quality outdoor LED display is generally rated for around 100,000 hours, which works out to roughly 7 to 10 years of operation, and yes, it’s designed specifically to cope with tropical conditions. Built-in features like UV-resistant coatings, anti-corrosion treatment, sealed IP65 cabinets, and proper heat dissipation are what let these screens handle relentless sun, heavy rain, and high humidity year after year. What shortens their life is usually neglect: blocked vents, broken seals, or running at full brightness around the clock. With the right specification and regular maintenance, your display will keep performing reliably for years. Auronova supplies displays engineered for exactly this climate and backs them with local support.

Just about anywhere you want to be seen outdoors. Common placements include building façades, rooftop and roadside billboards, shopping mall exteriors, stadium and event screens, petrol stations, and shopfront windows. The right setup depends on the location, the viewing distance, and how the screen will be mounted, whether that’s wall-mounted, pole-mounted, hung, or free-standing. Each site has its own requirements for structural support, power, and weatherproofing. Auronova carries out a site survey first, then handles the design, supply, and installation so the screen is safe, compliant, and positioned for maximum impact.
